Heardrum Rentals was created by award winning Sound Designer and Composer Martin Carrillo to serve the needs of the smaller theaters in Los Angeles. He was finding that playwrights, directors and theater companies were suffering with aging and unpredictable systems, and suffering most of all from the rental scale of competing broadcast events in the LA area. Broadcast can kill the Theater community, because rental companies start to love their daily rate on one off and short term events. We aimed to change that by offering the kind of break rental houses in New York offers to theaters in LA. The philosophy is simple. We adapt to your budget and aim for the highest quality over a 4-6 week run. We understand the theatrical model, and want to give your show the same quality that sometimes might only be available in New York because the scale of production hasn’t yet crippled Theatres and Performance models.
But Martin quickly found that it wasn’t just the Theater community that suffered from Broadcast event scale. Art installation, and Art Gallery presentations also suffered, Indie film producers suffered… the small guy suffered.
